Outback NSW. Highlights: 1. Mungo National Park, home to the Walls of China, a natural sculpture of sand and clay; 2. Willandra, where you can stay on a grand old pastoral station; 3. Mutawintji National Park, a centre of Aboriginal art and culture.  Central NSW. Highlights: 1. Warrumbungle National Park, where jagged blades of rock rise above the forest; 2. Hill End, historic gold mining town turned vibrant art centre; 3. Mount Kaputar, a wilderness area on an ancient, weathered volcano. New England Tablelands. Highlights: 1. Oxley Wild Rivers, a vast park of gorges, waterfalls and wilderness; 2. Bald Rock, a granite dome rising 250 m from the forest around it; 3. Washpool National Park, with its lush World Heritage rainforests. Northern Rivers. Highlights: 1. Yuraygir National Park: a 60-km stretch of striking cliffs, rocky headlands and isolated beaches; 2. Nightcap National Park, featuring the famous Protesters Falls; 3. Border Ranges National Park, a World Heritage rainforest haven. Hunter and Mid North Coast. Highlights: 1. The Myall Lakes: surf beaches, serene lakes and shady campsites; 2. Dorrigo National Park, where you can walk in the rainforest canopy; 3. The Barrington Tops: wild rivers, wilderness and World Heritage. Sydney and Surrounds. Highlights: 1. Blue Mountains National Park - shattered cliffs and hazy forests; 2. The much-loved Royal National Park, oldest park in Australia; 3. Sydney Harbour National Park - history, bushland and city views. South Coast and Highlands. Highlights: 1. Kosciuszko: ski fields, wildflowers, and Australia's tallest mountains; 2. Bournda National Park, one of the best camping spots on the coast; 3. Morton National Park: plunging waterfalls and wilderness views.
